Certificate of Deposit Rate Information
The interest rate and Annual Percentage Yield (APY) are listed on the Certificate of Deposit Rate Sheet.

*Our "Trade-a-Rate" certificates (terms 15 mos, 23 mos, 33 mos and 47 mos) are Exchange Rate products. For each of these accounts, you may "trade" or exchange the rate one time during the term of the account for the current rate applicable for that term and balance tier. There is no charge for the exchange.

**Our 18-month IRA and 36-month IRA products are variable rate accounts. The interest rates and annual percentage yields may change at the Bank's discretion. There is no limit on changes in the interest rate.

Trade-A-Rate Certificates of Deposit
The Trade-A-Rate Certificate of Deposit is by far Capaha Bank’s most popular certificate product. The popularity of this product comes from its competitive rate structure coupled with the depositor’s ability to change or “trade” the rate up to a higher level if rates rise during the term of the certificate. The Trade-A-Rate CD is offered in maturities of 15, 23, 33 and 47 months to meet a wide range of investment needs. This range allows the investor to select higher-yielding, longer maturities with the confidence of knowing that he or she is not “locked in” if rates rise during the term of the certificate. Other strategies using Trade-A-Rate CD are possible and can be more fully described by your Capaha Bank account representative.

Compounding and Crediting
The frequency with which interest is compounded and credited for each account is provided in the table below.

Balance Information
We use the daily-balance method to calculate the interest on your account. This method applies a daily periodic rate to the principal in the account each day. Interest begins to accrue on the business day you deposit any noncash items (for example, checks).

Transaction Limits

  • Certificates of Deposit: After the account is opened, you may not make deposits into the account.
  • IRA Products: After the account is opened, you may make deposits into the account. There is no limit to the number or frequency of deposits that can be made. There is no fee for a deposit. The minimum deposit amount is $25.00 in person, or $10.00 minimum by ATS or ACH. (Electronic deposits are assumed to be made for the current year.)

Early Withdrawl Penalty
If you withdraw any principal before the maturity date, a penalty will be charged to your account. The penalty applicable is shown above in the Balance Information table. The penalty will be calculated using the interest rate that is in effect on the account at the time of withdrawal, regardless of the length of time the funds have remained on deposit. The annual percentage yield assumes interest will remain on deposit until maturity. A withdrawal will reduce earnings.

IRA Products: At age 70-1/2, withdrawals for mandatory distributions will not be penalized for early withdrawal. There will be a $25.00 "Rollover/Transfer" fee charged for IRA funds moved from Capaha Bank to another institution.

Renewal Policy
This account will be automatically renewed at maturity unless otherwise stated. You have a grace period of ten (10) days after the maturity date to withdraw the funds without being charged a penalty. In the event of a non-renewable account, interest will not be paid after maturity.
